Prologue

Her back hit the wall, hard. She gasped, hands trembling, eyes wide as he slowly stalked toward her, his gaze locked on her as though she were the only thing in the world that mattered.

"Please," she whispered, barely able to speak through her fear. "Please... just stop."

His smile widened, eyes alight with something dark and unhinged. "Stop?" He chuckled softly, the sound low and twisted, as if the very idea of stopping amused him. "Oh, no, sweetheart. You don’t understand. I can’t stop. I don’t want to stop."

She shook her head, tears forming in her eyes, her voice trembling. "This isn’t love. This is... this is madness. You’re scaring me. Please, just let me go."

He moved closer, his hand brushing her cheek, fingers gentle in a way that sent a chill down her spine. "Shh, don’t be scared," he whispered, as if his words could calm her. "I’m only doing this because I love you. I’d never hurt you. You’re mine—you belong with me, don’t you see that?"

She flinched at his touch, her breath catching in her throat. "No, I don’t. I don’t belong to anyone. You’re obsessed, this... this isn’t normal!" Her voice cracked, desperation filling every word.

His face twisted for a moment, the smile faltering before it returned, even darker. "Obsessed? Maybe. But it doesn’t matter. You can’t run from this. You can’t run from me."

He grabbed her wrist, pulling her closer until she could feel the heat of his breath against her skin. She whimpered, her legs shaking as she tried to pull away, but his grip tightened like a vice.

"Stop!" she cried out, struggling against him, her voice breaking as the tears finally fell. "You’re hurting me! Please, stop this. You can’t keep doing this!"

His eyes softened, but it was the kind of softness that terrified her even more. "Hurting you?" he asked, voice gentle now, almost concerned. "I would never hurt you. I’m the only one who knows how to take care of you. No one else can love you the way I do. No one else will ever want you the way I do."

Her heart raced, panic flooding her veins as he leaned in, his lips brushing her ear. "You think you can get away? You think I’ll ever let you go?" He laughed softly, his grip unyielding. "No. You’re never leaving me. You’re mine, and that’s all you’ll ever be."

"Please..." Her voice was weak, pleading. "I can’t... I can’t take this anymore. This obsession—it’s destroying me. You’re destroying me."

His smile returned, cruel and possessive. "Good," he whispered, brushing a tear from her cheek with his thumb. "Because I want you to break. one day... you’ll thank me for this."

She sobbed, her body trembling uncontrollably. "You’re sick. You’re sick."

He pulled her into his arms, holding her tight as she struggled against him. "Shh, don’t say that. You’ll understand one day. This love—it’s all you need. It’s all you’ll ever need."

Her cries filled the room, but he only held her tighter, smiling as if her fear was nothing more than a small obstacle in his path. In his mind, there was no escape, no future where she wasn’t his. She would break, and when she did, she would belong to him forever.
